I guess the parser of the new version is more strict. I fixed the table. ;)

Other spoiling pages

I'll add a template for other spoiling pages, like Orc Language. Edwin de waterman  => Talk <=  Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 03:48, 29 October 2006 (PST) <·>

Just use this page includes spoiling information! Edwin de waterman  => Talk <=  Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 07:44, 29 October 2006 (PST) <·>

Lil rewording needed??

I wonder if "This article may contain quest spoiler information..." should be changed to "This article may contain quest spoiling information..."..

I think it looks quite better that way

 Nagatho Goldenflag   Talk   Contributions   16 February 2007 - 16:31

a little gramar fix?

Since mostly all quests now have "The" before their names, maybe remove that sentence.. Warning: This article may contain quest spoiler information for the maybe just remove that?

-- † Pudd Knight †  Talk  Contribs  -- 14:01, 8 March 2007 (PST)

I could go for that... and Nagatho's wording suggestion above, too.

some additions?

I think it'd be nice, now that most quests are well known, and there is a reasonable base for them, to add a "expected time" field to this, I don't mind putting the time in to modify some of the quest pages. Opinions?

This could be useful, I support it. -- Sixorish 02:34, April 29, 2012 (UTC)

Adding a "Quest Log: Yes/No"

This could be useful to indicate if the quest you're looking at appears in the quest log or not. Sometimes I want to know if I already did the quest, and maybe I already did it but that specific quest wont appear in my log. This could save time when checking. "Have I done it? lets check tibiawiki" simple as that!

I would do it but I don't know how to edit templates! Please do it or explain me how to do it and I will happoyly do it for all the quest that appear in this page

Rurhikek (talk) 20:27, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

A Father's Burden Quest is this a suitable change?
Craggles ಠ_ಠ TalkContribs 21:04, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I like the idea and i think Craggles solution is enough. Instead of amending each quest page we could add quests to another page which lists all quests that appear in the quest log and when rendering each quest page it checks this list and displays accordingly (less user effort, more server load). This is similar to how all item prices work now. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 21:08, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

Looks cool Craggles. But I think this parameter can just be added manually to the ~50 pages it applies to. Takes 30 minutes of someone's time, it saves a lot of server load I suppose. For the 300-400k of daily visitors TibiaWiki gets.. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 21:46, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

I'm sorry for typing here but as you can see I'm new to wikia and dont know how to post like an "answer" with a line separating my answer so thats why I type here.

I propposed it and as i said before, I could do it if you want to explain to me. I have no problem doing it!

The solution Craggles did is good but maybe we could use another title like "level required" "level recommended" "legend". Before legend we could add "Quest-log: Yes/Quest-log: No"

In my experience, burdening a page with a list of words is less useful than simple graphics that explain details. If a user doesn't understand the little scroll, they hover their mouse of the scroll and voila, it says what it does. I'm open to debate, but I like my idea
Craggles ಠ_ಠ TalkContribs 00:25, November 27, 2012 (UTC),

Yeah, It sounds good.
Do you want to do the changes to every page yourself? or please tell me how to do it and i will be happy to do it for all of us; this page has given me too much that i feel that I have a debt with people working on it haha.
Something that might be good is giving a link to that scroll so that it takes you to the Quest Log page. Is it possible?
Rurhikek (talk) 00:57, November 27, 2012 (UTC)
Thats been added too
|  log         = yes
Add that code in correspondent to the current format of a Quest page to update if its a quest log quest.
i.e
{{Infobox_Quest|List={}|GetValue={}
| name = Against the Spider Cult Quest
| aka = Terra Amulet Quest
|  reward      = Terra Amulet
| location = Edron Orc Cave
|  lvl         = 40?
|  lvlrec      = 45
|  premium     = yes
|  transcripts = yes
| dangers = Snakes, Poison Spiders, all kinds of Orcs (except for Orc Riders and Orc Warlords), Giant Spiders
| legend = The orcs in Edron have started breeding giant spiders and are becoming a serious threat. The town needs a hero to stop them.
|}}
Becomes
{{Infobox_Quest|List={}|GetValue={}
| name = Against the Spider Cult Quest
| aka = Terra Amulet Quest
|  reward      = Terra Amulet
| location = Edron Orc Cave
|  lvl         = 40?
|  lvlrec      = 45
|  premium     = yes
|  transcripts = yes
|  log         = yes
| dangers = Snakes, Poison Spiders, all kinds of Orcs (except for Orc Riders and Orc Warlords), Giant Spiders
| legend = The orcs in Edron have started breeding giant spiders and are becoming a serious threat. The town needs a hero to stop them.
|}}

I'm not sure it can be that simple.
All of these correspond to 2+ quests (maybe others): Factions, Friend and Traders, Outfit and Addon Quests, The Shattered Isles, The Ultimate Challenges, Tibia Tales.

-- Sixorish (talk) 07:22, November 27, 2012 (UTC)

I don't follow six, surely an arbitrary quest will be in your quest log or it won't. If its repeated that's fine right?
Craggles ಠ_ಠ TalkContribs 10:24, November 27, 2012 (UTC)

I think Six means that some quest log entries corespond with exactly one tibiawiki quest page (ratio 1:1) but other quest log entries correspond with multiple tibiawiki articles (ratio 1:n), Tibia Tales Quest is a good example. But this is not necessarily a problem, we'll just need to add the log=yes to all ntibiawiki quest articles. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 10:48, November 27, 2012 (UTC)

But even though these quests like Tibia Tales or Factions, etc that have other "sub-quests" appear on the log, so I dont understad why is it a problem? I mean It should be as simple as the Premmium column (in the Quests page). It just says yes or no.

Now, returning to the specific quest template, the script in A Father's Burden Quest is totally fine.

Rurhikek (talk) 16:05, November 27, 2012 (UTC)

Okay it could work. I just don't think it will be that useful for those quests without an obvious name in the log. -- Sixorish (talk) 16:26, November 27, 2012 (UTC)

If a quest is in the Tibia Tales Quest you could mark it as

|  log         = Tibia Tales

which would link to Tibia Talesusing below untested code:

{{#ifexist:|<sup></sup> |{{#switch:{}|Yes.|Yes|yes.|yes=<sup></sup>}}

I think Tibia Tales, Factions and other grouping quests could also be adapted to make better sense with their sub-quests linking back to them. --DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 00:46, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

Good idea!
Craggles ಠ_ಠ TalkContribs 01:22, November 28, 2012 (UTC)

It sounds very good... It comes to my mind tha if we're gonna add that "Log" line into the quest template... we could add it to all of it and just say "yes" if it appears in the quest log, "no" if it doesnt, and "yes/A Father's Burden Quest" if it's a grouping quest!! lets get it done
Rurhikek (talk) 14:22, December 5, 2012 (UTC)

I tried updating Template:Infobox_Quest to first try linking to an existing page i.e. Tibia Tales with a parameter

|  log         = Tibia Tales

and setting category for that page but this did not work as expected on A Father's Burden Quest. Could someone else take a look at it? It still works on Goblin Merchant Quest with "log = yes" linking to Quest Log.
Once this works all quests can be updated with "log = yes / Tibia Tales / Factions / etc.". For the grouped quest they should also have a category of that name so DPL can be used to list all those quests and formatted with a Quest template with the log parameter. Lastly Quest Log can be updated to show all corresponding quests.

Note to Rurhikek, you can use four dashes, ---- to put a line break between messages. Check out the icons near the top of the page when editing.
--DM ><((°> Contribs <°))>< talk to me 03:04, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

Should work now. -> Template:Log, {} -> log parameter. -- Sixorish (talk) 03:14, January 3, 2013 (UTC)

Spoilers

I suggest we either:

  • Merge all quest pages with their corresponding spoiler pages;
  • Add an edit button so you can directly edit the spoiler page when viewing the quest overview page.

Because at this moment it is very hard to edit the /Spoiler page, without manually appending it in your url bar of the browser. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 11:45, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

Pros for merging:

  • You can edit the header information and the spoiler at once.

Cons for merging:

  • We'd have to use noinclude around the body, like we do for game worlds. This is a pretty big one for me.

Pros for adding edit button:

  • Less effort to implement.

Cons for adding edit button:

  • We'd still have to edit header and spoiler separately.

I'll go and add a link to the spoiler now, since it requires 1 edit, but this of course can change... -- Sixorish (talk) 15:09, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

I know you had a complaint about font sizing on the infobox templates before, so if you have issues with the sizing of the text let me know. The font-size is 1.5x because I think 1x will make it hard to notice. -- Sixorish (talk) 15:36, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

Those pros and cons are exactly my thoughts, I like your solution! Thanks. The font size is ok I guess, the black dot between the words is a little strange, but I'm note sure what would look better.

I also like it the section header edit links are back again, I'm not sure if your edit had anything to do with it though. The "jump to transcripts" links etc. are still gone though. I think because you use a different id/class for the yellow coloured headers (haven't checked). -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 16:25, July 3, 2015 (UTC)

I removed NOTOC from one of the templates weeks ago to bring back those section edits.

I've edited the script to add the transcript links so that it should now do it on quest overview pages. -- Sixorish (talk) 17:18, July 3, 2015 (UTC)
