Template talk:Infobox Key
List problem
When used in a page, {{Infobox_Key|List={{{1|}}}|GetValue={{{GetValue|}}} makes the page disappear on lists. This template should be changed to {{Infobox_Key{{if|test={{{1|}}}|then=/{{{1}}}}}|GetValue={{{GetValue|}}} by default, to avoid people making a list disappear when editing a page or creating new ones. --Arkshi Toya 19:33, July 2, 2011 (UTC)
Updating
Do we want to try and merge keys with Infobox_items?

Yes, I was just thinking the same thing! Seems very easy, like Key 3012/new. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 20:09, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
I think we should keep the Infobox Key and add more features to it, like keylocation and doorlocation attributes. —Arkshi (Talk | contribs) 22:13, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
I agree with Arkshi... keys don't have their own item IDs, they have the same name (Copper Key) so it would conflict with many of our existing standards. Also some keys exist in 2+ variants (e.g. historical fibula key and obtainable one) which the item template does not support. -- Sixorish (talk) 23:48, October 14, 2012 (UTC)
Owh, I didn't realize they weren't separate item IDs.. But it would be cool to have a sidebar for keys as well. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 09:32, October 15, 2012 (UTC)
Ok, let's revamp this template anyways. I use Key 3012 as a test example, for now I added parameters:
- value
- npcvalue
- npcprice
- buyfrom
- sellto
Should we add keylocation and doorlocation, like Arkshi suggests? -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 12:37, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
I've been thinking, "keylocation" would be same as "origin", right? I believe "keylocation" would be a better name if we are going to add "doorlocation" as well. My idea is that we would include mapper links to both of these parameters, and in "notes" specify the method/quest used to obtain the key (if any). —Arkshi (Talk | contribs) 05:09, October 20, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I first thought origin meant how the key was introduced in-game, more of like implemented, but it's used differently. I think for all the quest-related keys the info:
- where to find the key? (e.g. a dead tree or from a NPC, so a mapper link is useful here)
- where is the door to use the key? (also a mapper link)
- what quest it is used for, in the notes. No spoiler tags are used atm, but we could add them.
There are also quite some old guildhall keys, where simply no info from the above can be added. -- Bennie (talk ~ fellows) 07:59, October 20, 2012 (UTC)
