Template talk:Calculator
New User Template
Hey guys, I thought this would be useful. I don't like typing my info into the online damage calculators every time I want to know my max mana or something like that.
Just put this template on your user page (with the correct info), and you will only need to update it when you level or gain a skill.

Call for Data
To make this calculator, I based the algorithms on 3 other websites' damage calculators. After some testing, I found inaccuracies in each of them. I tweaked it a little bit to make it as accurate as I can right now, but I would like your help.
If you notice that one of the calculations is incorrect, please post here. I will need your char's level, magic level, spell/rune that was used, and the damage you caused with it.
As I get reports of errors, I will update the page to keep it as accurate as possible.
Your help is sincerely appreciated!
force strike, lvl 60, mlvl 58, 124 damage to dwarf guard
e-wave, lvl 60, mlvl 58, 540 damage to giant spider
etc.

Uhh....
So, next time I go hunting I should write down my damage each time and what type of monster i was attacking? not sure how to go about doing this. ^_^ --Nodenar 13:34, 16 May 2006 (CDT)
Only really needed if you notice something is wrong in the damage calculator.
For example, if the damage calculator says that your maximum attack with and HMM is 97, but you do 123 damage, then the calculator is wrong, and I would like to know about it so that I can update it to make it more accurate.

Error?
On my userpage it shows:
Intense Healing 20 35 31
min 20, max 31, average 35?
Maybe Whitelaces should have a look at it, or is it right?
Edwin de waterman => Talk <= Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 09:49, 18 May 2006 (CDT) <·>
Yes, this was a mistake. I accidentally swapped the avg and max multipliers. Thanks for catching that!

Template:Damage Calculator or Template:Character Stats ?
With even shielding skill & XP to next level included it's actually a Character Stats template.
Maybe it should be changed to that before everybody has it on their userpage.
Edwin de waterman => Talk <= Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 13:27, 31 May 2006 (CDT) <·>
Since the character information is separated, I think it is still a damage calculator.
If you want to hide the character info part, and only display the damage, just add:
| showcharacterinformation = no
and it will hide the character stats part.
Also... if you only want the char stats, just use:
{{Damage Calculator/Character Information Table|
| lvl = 40
| mlvl = 20
...
|}}
It's pretty flexible as-is, but not all options are documented yet, since it is still a work-in-progress.
I still think that "Damage Calculator" is alright for the name. Even if we decide to change it, redirects work really well for templates, too. This way nobody's user pages will break if the templates get moved.
Maybe they should all be moved to "Template:Calculator/..." instead of "Template:Damage Calculator/..."
Is that what you were talking about?
-- Whitelaces † Talk † χρισtoς αnεσtη, αληθως αnεσtη -- 13:40, 31 May 2006 (CDT)
Yes, something like that. Since all stats, skills and stat-calculators are in it too.
Or just split the stats and damage calculator. With in the template showing if you want to have stats, damage calculator, or both.

Weapon Damage, Fist?
Maybe there exists a fist damage calculation to fill up the empty space next to melee? :)

If you can find it, I'm sure that it would be useful.

Please give me damage info!
I have been tracking my own damage, and I have already found a number of mistakes in the damage calculator, but I need more information! I'll make it easy on you!
Please email me TibiaCams of solo hunting or hunting with a VERY small team (1-2 people). Any type of damage would be helpful! Knights, Paladins, Mages, ANYONE! As long as I can tell what equipment, skills, and which runes/spells are being used, I want it!
Please email these to tavinflavura@gmail.com.
Don't forget to tell me which tibia version it is, and which TibiCam program was used (TibiCam or TibiCam NG).
Thanks!

Weapon Damage, Thrown weapons?
Does anyone know if throwing weapons spears, knives, stars, etc. can be added to the damage calculator? I'm not exactly sure visually where the placement would go or what the calculations would be.
That's a good idea. I'm not sure why I didn't think of that before!
I'll see what I can do.
Until people send me some information about what kind of damage these weapons do, I will make the assumption that the calculation will be the same as calculating melee damage.
-- Whitelaces † Talk † χρισtoς αnεσtη, αληθως αnεσtη -- 07:46, 24 July 2006 (PDT)
Thanks Whitelaces! Also, since you asked so nicely, I will try out a variety of the thrown weapons to see what kind of damage I can do. What format would you like the results in? I would think that the thrown weapons would more than likely be calculated based on the distance skill and not the melee skill. My initial guess is that the damage should be similar to that of the arrow and bolt. I am not willing to bet on that though.
Sorry my last comment was a little misleading.
Yes, it is based on the distance skill, but it uses the same formula as the melee skill. I just do not know if this is correct.
Format is not a huge issue, but I will need the following information:
- damage
- distance skill
- weapon used
- creature attacked
The easiest would be to just email me a TibiCam of you hunting solo. Best-case scenario would be a fairly long hunt (1-2 hours) using the same weapon on one kind of creature, but really any cam where I can tell who does the damage will work. tavinflavura@gmail.com
But if you just want to email your results, or even just post them here, I will still use them.
Thanks!

Damage calculator templates inconsistant for burst arrows
I may be out to lunch on this but...
If you look at my character Caultruus you will see burst arrow damage calculated at 98 based on a magic level of 12. If you look at my friend Sandrax the knight on my friends page, you will see the burst arrow damage calculated at 100 based on a magic level of 4.
It looks like there is some inconsistancy between the different calculator templates.
Burst arrow damage is not 100% based on magic level. Exp level also plays a part. I was told that burst arrow damage was same as using Explosion, but that may or may not be correct.
As always... if I can get more data, I'll always make corrections based on actual observed damage.

Fist Fighting and Rod/Wand Using
Wouldn't it break the calculator to use either of these skills as your main skill?
The damage the a wand/rod causes does not change (ever)... it is always random within a range. For example, a Wand of Plague will always cause damage between 24 and 37 (average of 30)... it will never be more or less than that, no matter what your level/magic level is.
About fist fighting, I don't have a formula for fist-fighting damage. I'm sure it could be integrated with the existing melee formula, but we might need to change the whole template.
If you (or anyone else) has a formula for fist-fighting damage, please post it here or on my talk page.

Hidden options
Whitelaces, what are the hidden options of this template? E.g. to hide the character stats:
| showcharacterinformation = no
And if you only want the char stats:
{{Damage Calculator/Character Information Table|
| lvl = 40
| mlvl = 20
...
|}}
And the showimages, and other stuff, there are many hidden things, but the code is so hard I can't find em all. Could you make a list of all options and what they do? (Just like the magic-words-list on mediawiki :P) -Edwin de waterman 13:27, 29 December 2006 (PST)
showcharacterinformation = yes/no
showweapondamage = yes/no
showhealing = yes/no
showattackrunes = yes/no
showattackspells = yes/no
showicons = yes/no
In order to accomplish showing and hiding these, it uses sub-page templates:
- Template:Calculator/Character Information Table
- Template:Calculator/Weapon Damage Table
- Template:Calculator/Healing Table
- Template:Calculator/Attack Runes Table
- Template:Calculator/Attack Spells Table
Nothing real fancy, just separate templates for each section.
I think that's it. If I think of any that I missed, then I will post them here. I had left these off of the main template page to prevent confusion as much as possible. Simpler is usually better.

GFB calculator
The GFB damage calculator is a little bit off, with lvl 51 and mag lvl 56 it said my minimum dmg was about 106 or something but i hit under 100 on mino archer and minos i think its about 10dmg to high on the minimum dmg, i havent noticed the maximum dmg tho.
User:Loden 5:47pm, 28 March 2007
That is because Minotaur archers only have 100 hitpoints. Even if your minimum damage is 106, you can never damage a minotaur archer for more than 100.

Icons
Maybe it is nice to turn on the icons as a standard function? Don't see a reason to hide them except for slow loading for reaaaaaly big pages. ;) Edwin de waterman => Talk <= Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 17:43, 30 April 2007 (PDT) <·>
Originally, I wasn't even going to add the icons, since I thought they made the whole thing harder to read, but I added them as an option, in case anyone wanted their damage calculator to look like the old Tibian Library one or something like that.
Showing/hiding the icons has very little effect on the time it takes to render the page. It only makes the download of the page take slightly longer because the browser is downloading the images, and not just the HTML. The time it takes the server to build the page does not change.
The only reason I would suggest leaving it the way it is, is because categorically it would change the functionality of the template. It would change the appearance for anyone that desired the default behavior.
When maintaining a multi-user system with shared controls (templates in this case), the best practice is to preserve the known behavior and appearance whenever possible.
If the consensus among wiki users is that they want the default changed, then it's no problem, but if there is no consensus either way, I think it should stay the way it is.

Client Update 8
It seems like a lot of calculations aren't correct anymore due to the damage changes as from update 8.0 I'm asking people in-game to tibicam their hunts to get new information. Edwin de waterman => Talk <= Profile ·_· Contribs <·> 03:59, 28 July 2007 (PDT) <·>
I cammed a hunt with my druid. I hope it's helpful. There is lots of light healing and at one point a few exori vis's. I'm not sure if it's worth a half-hour cam just for that or not, so I guess view at your own discretion. ;) Anyways, here is the link: http://tibicams.tibianetwork.com/en/movies/show/29743 - Here's another hunt I cammed, where I was on balanced fighting for most of it. Only an idea. After update 8.1 you could consider all exori mort|vis|flam|frigo|tera do the same damage for mages/sorcs. Also hmm=stalagmite, gfb=avalanche and fireball=icicle for their corresponding vocations.
No idea if there's a difference if it's a sorc using icicle runes or a druid using fireball ones, but I think not, as there is now a level and magic level requierement for using it, so I doubt CIP took the vocation in consideration while calculating rune damage

Default Skills
I think if a skill level is undefined it should default to ten, level should default to 1, weapon attack attribute to ... something. But it seems like skill defaults to 35 and I haven't tested the others. OneGyT 12:34, 4 August 2007 (PDT)

if possible could someone update this for the winter update? would be awasome, would help out in any way i can just tell me what you need ^^

I think the real reason this template has not been updated is that we do not have the new formulas for how much damage each spell/weapon will cause.
I imagine that if we can compile all of the formulas, then the template will be updated pretty quickly.

Hits & damage?
I have skill 79, with my justice seeker tibia wikia says i have to hit 305 maximal, but i hit 314 on a kongra and 357 on a sea serpent. Also the magic spells like exori/exori gran, the number that say's i always will hit that, thats cinda the maximum u will hit, on creatures weak to physical i hit the average exori gran, (450 and normally between 240-380). There's something really wrong there.
Avermor 07:13, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
Sea Serpents are weak against physical damage, you most certainly will hit higher. However, I do agree, most damage calculations aren't correct (not for melee, not for any type of spell). If everyone would provide data, new formulas could be made. Data = your skill, your weapon, your hits (200-300 hits? maybe more) for melee, etc.
--Temahk (Talk • Contribs) 09:12, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
I know Sea Serpents are weak against physical but kongra aint, and how u explain i hit 10 more then wikia says my max is. And that 305 is my maximal if the creature doesn't were armor, so it's even more rare then.
Avermor 13:20, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
As far as I can tell. The heal friend spell should be doubled (its double the mana and I believe double the healing strength). Icicles and Fireball damage should also be doubled, from what I see on the current calculations this is what I hit with these runes pvp.
There is more of a discussion about this on Talk:Formula. Nevaran has a pretty accurate damage formula for most common spells/runes here. Can anyone else test and comment about this?
On another note: Wound Cleansing, Groundshaker, Divine Healing, Divine Missile, Divine Caldera and Ethereal Spear are all missing from the tables. I can get some information for these if someone would put them into a working formula Beejay 02:58, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Rune Making Calculator?
Seemed to me it's a good idea to make a calculator that takes into account the following:
Food
Promotion
rune type
soft boots
life Rings
rings of Healing
Average time to make
etc etc.
in order to find out roughly how long mages will need to spend to make a set amount of runes.
Suggestions? any idea's on how to do this?

Update this template to include new spells
How can this be done? I don't know how to do it myself, but as I use it it would be nice if someone who did could do it. As for the damage values, I could try working on the formula, but I'd need a big test. Rosin007 00:10, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
