Introduction

Eternal Oblivion is a character that was created on April 27, 2003 on Amera (now Solidera). It was considered one of the best and most inspiring Tibia characters and holds a legendary status among many Tibians. It was actively played between 2003 to 2008 - and at the time it was the highest leveled Knight in the game, and had the highest skills as well.

Background

The character was created by Steve Cheung, a Cantonese person with roots in Hong Kong, who grew up and lived in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada. He created the character while studying actuarial science and mathematics at the University of Waterloo. After graduating, he moved to Hong Kong to work as an actuary, as well as a mathematics teacher.

While actively playing the game, he met Jeff Peterson, a resident of Santa Rosa, California, USA who was the top-level on Amera at the time with his character Dking (later renamed to Naggano). They decided to start sharing Eternal Oblivion so that Steve could focus on skilling while studying, and Jeff helped with hunting and establishing connections with PvP-players. Together, they managed to make it the highest skilled and highest leveled character in the game, in less than 3.5 years of gameplay. It was also the first knight to reach magic level 9.

Steve graduated from the University of Waterloo on June 17, 2006 and retired from the game shortly after in September 2006, before planning to move to Hong Kong. From that day, Jeff was the only person playing the account. Calax was offered the account before Steve left, but Jeff ended up accepting it. On December 03, 2007 he reached Level 300. This took place during a Double XP week, which also resulted in an all-time high count of players online. Jeff decided to retire and gave the account away to a friend, but it is unknown who is in possession of the account today.

Jeff passed away on July 23, 2023 due to an undiagnosed heart ailment.

Real-Life Brother

Steve has a real life brother named Eddie Cheung who still plays Tibia. Eddie was also among the highest skilled players in the game, prior to Exercise Weapons were introduced in the game. His in-game character name is Buzzfreak.

Steve was an avid Maple Story player, playing under the nicknames Nerola, Lachrymus and Jellyflower. Jeff used to play Guild Wars 2.
