Since it has only one defense point more, but is more expensive and a lot heavier than the Demon Shield most Knights and Paladins opt to save up until they have enough money to buy a Mastermind Shield instead of using the Carapace Shield. Mages will simply stick to Demon Shield. It is most often only used as decoration.
